The goal of the website is to provide elementary PE teachers, recreation leaders, resource teachers, coordinators, and college professors free, simple, user friendly information. My hope it is something you can use and put into practice and it works, maybe the next day or that week. It improves your program. If you are able get just one new idea, game or concept from this website, I’ve done my job. And I wish you and your program all the best.
Throughout this website, I hope you notice one constant theme; positive integration of character into the activities and lesson. This was my specialty, assimilation of character into physical education. I worked at Manor View Elementary School for 29 years. The last ten years or so our school was honored to become one of my county’s first elementary schools International Baccalaureate Primary Year Program (PYP).
Our Approach
Meaningful Activities
We have heard of “busy, happy good PE,” however, Dale takes the approach one step further. Activities on this website are not “Meaningless, Mindless, Motionless and Moral-less.” In fact, we add a meaningful test questions, “Why are we playing the game? What are we learning by doing this activity?” If we can’t list important goals and reasons, we don’t play it. Therefore, every activity in this website is handpicked and carefully crafted, whether a concept, skill, drill, challenge or game toward developing happy responsible physically literate youngsters.

About & Background
I’m not a writer nor researcher, but retired PE teacher who worked about 40-50 hours week mainly at the elementary level. I’ve taught at the elementary, middle, high schools and several colleges. Throughout my career I was a member of SHAPE America and the Shape Maryland and enjoyed reading about our PE craft along the way as a hobby.
“I was a student of Mr. Sarratt at Manor View from probably 2000-2003, I am now in my 30s with a kindergartener of my own and randomly decided to google his name and see if he was still teaching and I was THRILLED to see a site full of lesson plans and activities. I am now working as an early literacy tutor in my local elementary school and have sat in on a number of PE lessons and always thought about my own elementary school days at Manor View and how memorable and engaging Mr. Sarratt made every day’s activity. To this day I can still remember every part of the Fantasy Island setup and how much fun it was- I was shocked when we moved and I realized not every PE teacher does things like that (and that not every school has its own pommel horse). Finding the lesson plan for that in the special activities section is truly the highlight of my month. Both of my sisters also attended Manor View and several times over the years we have reminisced about how magical Fantasy Island days were!!! I am so SO glad I found this website and will be sharing these resources with the PE team at our school!!”
